Udell H. Meyer, age 84 of rural Hamel, IL, died Friday, December 26, 2014, at Hitz Memorial Home in Alhambra, IL. He was born on Tuesday, December 02, 1930, in Collinsville, IL, the son of Henry C. and Edna C. (nee Fischer) Meyer. On Saturday, September 12, 1959, he married Norma J. Meyer (nee Klueter) who survives. He was a member of Saint Paul Lutheran Church, Hamel, IL; Plumbers and Gas Fitters Local 360, Collinsville, IL; Illinois State Bee Keeper Association; St. Clair Bee Keeper Association; American Legion-Post 199, Edwardsville, IL; Madison County Farm Bureau; Prime Timers; AARP; Alhambra Senior Citizens; Hamel Golden Agers; Pin Oaks Senior Citizens; 4-H Leader (10 years). Udell grew up in Collinsville, IL; he was a 1948 graduate from Collinsville High School. He served with the US Army, with active duty in Korea during the Korean Conflict from Dec 03, 1951 to Sept 08, 1953. He was a union plumber with E.G. Maag, E. St. Louis, IL and later with Schaulat Plumbing, Collinsville, IL; he retired after 45 years. He worked 35 years part-time for the Department of Agriculture as a honey bee inspector. He was a honey bee keeper for 55 years. He ran the “Honey Booth” at the Madison County Fair for 45 years. He was a retired farmer that began farming in 1968. He was very active in many organizations. Godell, Troy, IL Grandchild – Aaron J. Kipp, Staunton, IL Grandchild – Michaela J. Kipp, Staunton, IL Grandchild – Katelyn K. Godell, Troy, IL Great Grandchild – Savannah R. Roberts, Staunton, IL He was preceded in death by: Father – Henry C. Meyer Mother – Edna C. Meyer nee Fischer Arrangements are being handled by Dauderman Mortuary, Hamel, IL, Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, December 28, 2014, at Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Hamel, IL, and from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, on Monday, December 29, 2014, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hamel, IL. Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, December 29, 2014, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hamel, IL, with Rev. Benjamin Ball, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be at Saint Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Hamel, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Bread of Life Food Pantry, Hamel, IL.
