Raymond M. Sedlacek

Raymond M. “Shorty” Sedlacek, age 88, of Gamaliel, AR, died Tuesday, June 07, 2016, at Care Manor Nursing Home in Mountain Home, AR. He was born on Sunday, July 24, 1927, in Fruit Station, IL, the son of Frank and Anna (nee Kesl) Sedlacek. On Saturday, November 01, 1947, he married Fern L. Sedlacek, nee Gibbs, at Marine, IL, she passed away on Monday, May 29, 2000. He was a member of the Cement Masons & Plasterers Local 90. Raymond was born in Fruit Station; also lived in Marine and Alhambra. He and his wife lived most of their lives in Marine. Ray and his wife had traveled to Hawaii three times, also to Mexico, Florida and Arizona. For their 50th anniversary they went to Maine and New England. He moved to Arkansas in 2010; later to River Lodge Assisted Living in 2012. He liked to fish; enjoyed flea markets, collecting meat cleavers and restoring cast iron skillets. Survivors include: Daughter – Cheryl A. Long, Mountain Home, AR Son – Michael R. (Connie) Sedlacek, Gamaliel, AR Son – Tom B. Sedlacek, Gamaliel, AR Grandchild – Gina M. (Christopher) Boekhout, Highland, IL Sister – Betty Potthast, Beaver Prairie, IL Sister – Norma Buchheim, West Chester, OH. He was preceded in death by: Father – Frank T. Sedlacek Mother – Anna R Sedlacek, nee Kesl Wife – Fern Louise Sedlacek, nee Gibbs (died 5/29/2000) Son In-law – Roger Long (died 2013) Sister – Dorothy Neudecker (died 8/26/2011), Maryville, IL Brother – Leonard Sedlacek (died 7/18/2012), Edwardsville, IL Brother – Wilbur “Butch” Sedlacek (died 12/30/2000) Sister – Wilma M. Donnelly (died 9/9/91) Sister – Verna M. Jewell Brother – Frank Sedlacek (as an infant). Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, June 10, 2016, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL and from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 11, 2016, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 11, 2016, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL, with Father Paul Habing, Marine, IL officiating. Interment will be at Saint Elizabeth Catholic Cemetery in Marine, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Elizabeth Catholic Cemetery-Marine, IL or Hospice of the Ozarks.
